Job Description:

To manage the Tandem platform for the converged SuperSIRAS operations in Asia.

Accountabilities:

Support / Operations

Manages Tandem/SuperSIRAS system performance in meeting agreed SLA
Provides technical support to issues related to the Tandem systems
Manages the operations of the production and DRP Tandem systems
Maintains the documentation required for the Tandem operations
Provides and conducts operator training (when necessary)
Liaises with the Tandem maintenance contractors to sort out hardware and systems software problems and manages their performance.
Applies SuperSIRAS patches approved by the users to the production environments
Implements OU specific programs approved by the users in the production environment
Acts as the Trust Domain focal point
Maintains the DRP procedures and co-ordinates periodic testing
Acts as security officer of the Tandem systems
Provides first level support on the Tandem side of the X.25, VSAT link to the OUs, coordinating with maintenance contractors where necessary
Ensures that all operations and systems processes follow secutirty SOx compliant procedures
Maintains the SOx control procedures up-to-date
Maintenance / Portfolio Management
Performs capacity planning for the Tandem systems and recommends upgrade if needed
Initiates and manages system tuning where necessary
Manages the installation of new or additional hardware and software
Performs housekeeping for the various OU environments
Keeps track of Tandem systems software patches and version upgrades, and applies them where necessary
Performs health checks on the Tandems and SuperSIRAS periodically
Periodically studies system processes and proposes appropriate changes to improve the system efficiency

Special Challenges:

The Tandem/SuperSIRAS system has to be available over 99% of the time. Any problems encountered should be solved as soon as possible.
Provide support remotely to the application support team who are based in different OUs in Asia
In order to meet the stringent service levels set by users, system performance has to be monitored closely and tuning has to be done quickly as and when needed.
On call/Standby after office hours
Ensure that the operation and system processes are SOX compliant.
Providing Tandem support to various projects without affecting the day to day operations and support work.

Requirements :

At least 2 years’ experience in systems management in the Tandem platform, preferably the S-series.
Working knowledge of the Tandem operating system, TACL programming, Pathway, Netbatch, TCP/IP, SQL, DSM/SCM, backup and restoration processes.
Sound understanding of capacity planning for the Tandem platform
Working knowledge of Tandem operations management
Sound understanding of performance analysis and tuning
Working knowledge of system monitoring tools (Reflex preferred)
Understanding of X.25, IP network and the VSAT operations
Working knowledge of security management
Good understanding of configuration management and version control
